About

Joyce Lynn

Joyce Lynn Elder

When she was still small enough to run between people’s legs like Jane and Michael in Mary Poppins, Joyce found herself sitting on the sidelines of a dispute.  As the conversation deteriorated, she felt more and more deflated, and she made a decision: “When I grow up, I’m going to [empower others] so this doesn’t happen.”

She may have forgotten that decision, but it stuck.  Joyce was drafted for a mediation team in college, designed and facilitated a workshop for at risk youths that was quickly selected for D.A.R.E. summer camp, mediated small claims disputes and labor disputes, served as a Dependency CASA, and went on to facilitate disputes involving homeowners and lead board meetings.

She has a proven track record for turning angry clients into raving fans and feuding groups into powerful partners as discussion becomes more constructive and new perspective is offered.

Joyce is committed to helping solopreneurs improve sales and leading teams through challenges with the benefit of authentic connection, communication, and collaboration.  She leads workshops on customer service and the psychology of selling, and also guides attorneys in courtroom communication.

A former attorney, Joyce Lynn Elder insists she is not a ‘peacemaker,’ and doesn’t consider her style to be ‘touchy-feely.’ “People’s power is in their passion and ability to express their perspective. We need to have our say.” And, although Joyce has a lighter side as a student of improvisation and comedy, she makes sure she is heard and taken seriously: she once started a petition hoping to collect 25 signatures in 1 week, but gained roughly 3 times that amount in less than 1 hour.

An advocate for passionate, purposeful expression, Joyce also believes there is a way to get the point across without causing injury, and is a dedicated student of communication: She has completed numerous courses in advanced communication techniques, including NLP, and is certified as a Master Results Coach, Performance Consultant, and Trainer.  Combining that with her creativity, resourcefulness, and insight, as well as techniques from advocacy, conflict management, and sales, Joyce Lynn Elder is the Ultimate Business Relations Consultant.

Joyce has presented at regional professional conferences for mediators, attorneys, association managers, and property managers on topics such as building rapport, collaborative negotiation, and building agreement, and has also taught the keys to sales for business owners.
